must do activities

At Eco Beach we believe for our guests and visitors to truly gain an unforgettable experience of visiting the Retreat they should discover the "must-do activities" of Eco Beach.

These include:

  • Visiting William Dampier Lookout;
  • enjoying Jack's Creek;
  • discovering "the cave" and;
  • joining in the indigenous cultural tours.

William Dampier Lookout

This walk through sand dune vegetation leads to the breathtaking view of Cape Villaret. Enjoy this walk with one of our local guides or as a self-guided tour. Maps are available from the reception area if you choose the self-guided tour option. To book the tour with one of our local guides, please go to the reception area.

Jack's Creek

Jack's Creek, only 11 km north of Eco Beach, is home to a wonderland of natural surprises. Discover the sights, sounds, and experiences of this incredible estuary and book one of our daily tours to this magical place.

Indigenous tours

Explore the natural wonders of the surrounding Eco Beach landscape through the eyes of the Yawaru people - the traditional aboriginal owners of this land. The Yawaru people invite you to their traditional country to learn about their culture and its intricate link to the surrounding landscape and ocean. View sites of historical and cultural importance. Discover traditional food gathering and hunting techniques, sample bush tucker, listen to dreamtime stories and learn how to catch and cook mud-crabs. Our learned and insightful guides will expose you to another world. Book the 'Bushwalk', the 'My Country Traditional Hunting Tour' or both. These tours give you an opportunity to learn why Eco Beach and its surrounding areas are so special and important to the Yawaru people.

"The Cave"

Enjoy a leisurely 7km return walk along the wide sandy beach towards Cape Villaret, where you will view spectacular rock formations and impressive caves. During July - October there is a very good chance of spotting migrating whales, sometimes only a few hundred metres from the cliffs. The caves are only accessible at low tide. Please go to the Retreat's shop or the reception area to find out the best times to take this walk.

We regard your visit to the Retreat as incomplete without having experienced and/or photographed the must do activities of Eco Beach!
