Walking

Being in the heart of the wilderness, it's no surprise that you'll be spoilt for choice at Eco Beach.

Bush Walks
For the serious walker we have a 8km roundtrip cliff top hike, complete with stunning views and amazing photo opportunities. You are guided along Hutton's Trail and the beach through the Cape Villaret landscape, with an emphasis on indigenous plant life, bush tucker and medicinal plant use, ecology and geology of the tour route. Collect your own nature guide book from reception.

Beach walks
With over 15km of pristine beach the walking possibilities are endless, whether it's a morning power walk as the sun rises, a beach comb at low tide or a leisurely stroll into the setting sun. Whatever your preference you'll never tire of our beach walks.

Bird / Nature Watching

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an ornithologist then welcome to paradise. With such a diverse marine habitat fringing untouched bush wilderness, it's no surprise that the level and variety of birdlife at Eco Beach is quite outstanding. The retreat is located just 20km from the Ramsar marine wetlands conservation area which underlines the importance of the area as a habitat for birds.

To list all the species seen around the retreat would require a book in itself but here's just a brief snapshot of some of the feathered friends you can expect to see during your stay: babblers, honey-eaters, bee-eaters, dollarbirds, shrikes, fairy wrens, finches, parrots, kestrels, sea eagles, ospreys, oyster catchers, plovers, curlews, boobies, terns, frigate birds and seagulls.

Agile wallabies are numerous around the retreat as are lizards such as sand goannas, frill necked lizards, blue tongues and many other species. If you are very lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the elusive bilby. These nocturnal burrowing marsupials have become increasingly rare in recent years but have been sighted around the retreat. Please report any sightings to staff.

Sundowner beach drinks

Often in life it's the simplest of things that afford the greatest of pleasures. Join in with the great Aussie tradition of sundowner drinks on the beach. Grab a beach chair and one of our special sundowner packs and enjoy an ice cold beer or wine with nibbles and mull over the day's events under a setting sun. A great time to catch up with friends old and new.

Private beach dining

For the most romantic of experiences, Eco Beach can offer couples the chance to enjoy a candlelit dinner at the beach location of their choice. Select your own menu and have your very own server cater to your needs. Perhaps you're ready to pop the question? Or maybe you'd just like to enjoy a special dinner with your loved one under the stars. Either way, a private beach dinner offers a truly unique and romantic experience. (Private beach dinners must be booked through reception 48hrs in advance).

Relaxing

This is one activity that is a foregone conclusion at Eco Beach. Whether it's topping up your tan on the beach, lounging on the huge day beds by the pool, snoozing in a shaded beach cave or simply kicking back on your verandah with a good book, the nature of Eco Beach will inspire you to relax. We are a wilderness retreat. The very words signify an escape from the pressures of modern life and being at one with nature.

So much of our business is repeat, and this is testament to the fact that once you leave Eco Beach, you take a little piece away in your heart.
