Eco Beach Resort is a multi-award-winning eco resort set amongst the pristine and untouched Kimberley environment. Just over an hour’s drive south of Broome, accommodation at our eco resort provides guests with an unforgettable and unique wilderness experience whilst having minimal impact on the surrounding landscape. Our eco-friendly holiday accommodation near Broome is perfectly suited to every taste.

Accommodation at Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat includes 25 superbly appointed Eco Villas and 30 Safari Eco Tents, interlinked by over 1 km of elevated eko deck boardwalks. For families and larger groups, the two striking ocean front Beach Houses with amazing Indian Ocean views are perfect for a get together.  

Eco Beach Resort is a 1.5 hour drive south of Broome – 120km along the Great Northern Highway and then 10km along a well maintained pindan (red dirt) road or a 25 minute scenic helicopter journey from Broome.

Eco Beach Resort is nestled behind the primary sand dune, a stone’s throw from the Indian Ocean. You can choose from oceanfront Eco Villas and Eco Tents, villas and tents that have partial ocean views, or you can opt for a Kimberley coastal bushland experience. Whichever accommodation location you choose, the beach is only a stroll away, and you can fall asleep to the sighing sound of the waves every night.

The villas sleep from 2 to 6 people depending on the style of villas you choose. Rollaway beds and sofas can be utilised when available.  

Eco Villas Bedding: 

  • Garden View, Ocean View  & Ocean Front Villas: 1 King or 2 king singles 
  • Family Villas: 1 King + Bunks 
  • Villa 1 2 bedrooms: 2 kings or 4 king singles (Not suitable for families with small children) 
  • Beach houses 2 Bedrooms: 1 King + 1 king or 2 twin king singles 

Eco Tents are perfect for couples with either a king bed or 2 king singles. The eco family Safari tents also include a set of bunks for children (weight limited to 45kg, not suitable for older teenagers or adults) . 

Yes, all Eco Villas are air-conditioned, offering our guests a “green” experience in superior comfort The Eco Safari Tents are very well ventilated and equipped with fans. We offer a limited number of Deluxe Eco Dafari Tents which are air conditioned. 

Yes, all linen and towels are provided in the Villas, Tents and Beach Houses. We also have pool/beach towels available. Linen for extra guests staying on sofas and roll away beds in available for a fee. 

As we are an Eco-friendly resort, we provide services on demand. When staying 4 nights in a villa or beach house, guests can opt for a mini service during their stay. Stays over 7 nights will be provided with a full service including a linen change. If you require a sere please present the Service Card from your Villa to reception by 12pm of the day you require the service. 

All of the Eco Villas have a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, bar fridge. Cutlery, crockery and glassware are also provided. For cocking other than in the microwave the Central Outdoor BBQ areas offer shared BBQ facilities. BBQs are available to hire which will be delivered to your rom, see reception for fees and availability. You can share a meal with other guests at tables provided at the central outdoor barbeque meeting area, set amongst the coastal vegetation, or dine alone in the comfort of your air-conditioned villa.  

If you’re staying in an Eco Tent, you can utilise either of the 2 outdoor BBQ areas on the property. The BBQ areas are set up with communal BBQs, microwaves, single hotplate, kettle and fridge space. Eskys and picnic sets with all the essential tableware are also available for Eco Tent guests (for a small deposit). Dine in the shared outdoor dining area, set amongst the coastal bush, or on your private tent deck. There is also an esky in each tent with ice available for purchase. 

The use of your own cooking equipment in and around villas and tents is strictly prohibited due to fire safety laws. 

The Retreat’s accommodation is mainly powered by the Kimberley sun. If you’re staying in a villa this means you can dry your hair, but you can’t microwave your dinner at the same time! You can only plug in one electrical appliance at a time. 

The tents are limited to 2 amps of power, this power level can support a mobile or camera charger however a hair dryer or portable fridge cannot be operated. Both tents and villas have a 240kw output 

Contact Eco Beach Resort reception at least 24 hours before your arrival to notify reception you are considering bringing your boat. Reception will advise if there is a mooring available to you. Alternatively you may anchor your boat. When you arrive at Eco Beach, you are responsible to off-load your passengers at the beach. Once you have done this, take your boat to a mooring with a kayak attached to it. This kayak is there for your use to transfer to and from your boat. 

Yes! Eco Beach offers families the rare chance to escape conventional accommodation inclusions such as TV and focus on reconnecting with each other. Mother Nature is the focus, and Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat has a host of fun outdoor family activities available such as kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, whale watching, bird watching, beach fossicking, creek exploring, and star-gazing. We do ask parents and caregivers to consider other guests staying at the resort and always supervise children closely. The beach is the perfect location for children to let off some steam, run around, and play ball games.

Yes, for in-house guests we have a stunning infinity pool that overlooks the Indian Ocean, equipped with individual shade umbrellas and deck chairs which is the perfect place for guests to relax and unwind. The pool is located alongside “Jack’s” bar and restaurant. Children are more than welcome to swim in the pool. Parents are reminded that children are to be directly supervised whilst in the pool area and to keeping in mind the presence of guests who wish to relax around the pool. Please ask bar staff for non-breakable options for enjoying food and beverages around the pool. 

  

The pool safety and guidelines along with resuscitation information are located on the pool fence. The beach is the perfect location for children to let off steam, run around and play ball games. 

No. Pool facilities are only available for the in-house guests.

Eco Beach is a safe place to swim; we are no different to any other north west coastal location. Eco Beach experiences tidal rips, large tidal movement, shore breaks and sandbanks. Our waters contain a rich array of marine life, including humpback whales, dolphins, manta rays, sharks, turtles and the odd transient crocodile during the wet season. The same cautionary measures apply to swimming at Eco Beach as they do at any beach in Australia.

While we can never guarantee that marine stingers are not present in the water. The general guideline is that Marine stingers can be present any time November and April and generally the water is free from Marine stingers between May and October for guests to enjoy the ocean. 

We have Kayaks and stand up paddle boards for complimentary use. Please ensure that boards are dragged back to the sign on the beach so that they do not wash away in the large tides.  Please see reception for paddles and to sign the vessels out. Fishing rods are available for hire, see reception. We have also provided large shade structures on the beach to provide shelter from the Kimberley sun.

Yes, we have a signature restaurant and bar – “Jack’s” – named after Jack Edgar, one of the traditional Yawuru owners. Jack’s overlooks the Indian Ocean with Kimberley-style outdoor dining. 

At Eco Beach Resort, we view food and holidays as synergistic. Combining healthy food with ‘time out’ with Mother Nature is the perfect way to nourish body and spirit. Food at Jack’s is a celebration of natural pure flavours and their transformation into culinary delights. 

Our renowned organic garden supplies the resort kitchen with many fresh produce used in the everyday creation of delicious meals. Where possible we source and use produce from local suppliers. 

Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat offers a fully licenced bar and restaurant which offers a large range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for your convenience. You are welcome to BYO your own drinks to drink in the comfort of your accommodation or around the Resort BBQ areas, however we do ask that you refrain from bringing BYO  to the licenced restaurant, bar and pool area.  Take-away drinks are available for you to purchase in the bar area, you will be asked to provided a licences to meet WA takeaway liquor laws. Check out our drinks menu to see what is available. 

Pick up a gift or a memento from your time with us at Eco Beach. There is a range of items located in the lounge area adjacent to the reception. Items on offer vary from sunscreen, insect repellent and basic toiletry items through to clothing, bags, hats, stubby holders and some kids fun items. 

Supporting locals is important to us here at Eco Beach and we do that through the sale art works and local products.  

Jack’s Bar stocks assorted snacks such as chips, nuts and chocolate bars and some cake and savoury options for you to snack on throughout the day. 

The whale watching season is between May and September, during these times you may get to see humpback whales frolicking in the waters directly out the front as the pass by on their annual migration. During these times Karma IV offers whale watching trips each week which can be booked through reception. 

The Flatback turtle nesting season is October – December. Guests can accompany Conservation Volunteers Australia marine researchers on sensitively conducted turtle patrols during this time if available. You may get lucky and see turtles swimming directly out the front while you are kayaking. 

Eco Beach Resort promotes “fishing for the future”. After you catch enough for your dinner (one Kimberley fish should be ample), we ask you to please practice environmentally responsible “catch and release” fishing. This includes using suitable tackle for the species that you are targeting and minimising the time spent to land the fish. You can cook up your catch using the share barbecue facilities or ask the chef to create a delicious dish for you to dine in Jack’s restaurant. See reception for availability and cost. 

At Eco Beach, the horizon extends as far as the eye can see – a full 360º. While you are not able to see the ‘Staircase to the moon’ here, we have our own natural full moon phenomenon – the spectacular full moon rising up over the bush plains of Yardogarra country.  From the resort’s elevated heli-pad, you are perfectly placed to witness the rising full moon, an experience that will leave you breathless and convinced of the moon’s spiritual power. At night time, far from the bright lights of Broome, you will revel in the stunning clarity of the northern stars and Milky Way. 

To protect the surrounding environment and wildlife, domestic pets and animals are not permitted onsite at Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat. Registered service animals are permitted on site. Please advise reservations upon booking if you are bringing a registered service pet, so that we can ensure the most appropriate accommodation is allocated to you. Service registration paperwork for service animals is required to be submitted at the time of booking, failure to produce relevant paperwork may result in us being unable to accommodate you and your service animal.  

Telstra offers the best mobile service at eco beach with the strongest mobile service around the reception and restaurant area. However, your location in the resort (e.g. down in the valley), inclement weather and certain tides may affect reception. 

Eco Beach offers guest Wi-Fi, with the strongest service available around the restaurant area. The guest Wi-Fi password is Eco-guest11. We do not guarantee that the Wi-Fi will be unaffected by outages or weather. We recommend that you do not rely on the Wi-Fi to conduct important business or meetings. 

The power system for the resort is an integrated hybrid system.  Energy produced through solar is stored in  batteries to enable the generators to be switched off at night. 

 

Three water tanks are located on site. The resort’s water supply, including drinking and shower water, is obtained from the site’s bore. The water is filtered and treated and is safe to drink. We encourage the use of refillable bottles, a sparkling and still water station is located in Jack’s bar for your convenience.
