If you are planning a getaway to Broome, there is no shortage of unique and exciting activities to experience. Whether you want an adventure-filled trip or are seeking a tranquil getaway — or a combination of both — there are endless things to do in Broome.

We’ve put together a list of the best things to do in Broome so you can start planning your perfect trip.

Our Suggestions of Things To Do In Broome!

Now, it is important to make note of Broome’s unique seasons. There are only two things you need to know about the weather and Broome: Wet and Dry.

Broome’s wet season includes sweltering heat and humidity and downpours that seem to appear out of nowhere. The dry season in Broome falls between May and October and brings more predictable weather, more comfortable temperatures, and generally blue skies. However, the best time to visit our Eco Beach Resort is from April to October.

While Broome offers year-round entertainment and activities, we highly recommend visiting during the dry season of May to October to have the best chance to enjoy everything this stunning area has to offer.

Here is our list of the top things to do in Broome.

  1. Visit Broome’s Amazing Art Galleries

Given Western Australia’s Aboriginal heritage, Broome is bursting with talented artists and art galleries full of unique pieces and Indigenous art. Many of Broome’s art galleries offer free admission and have artwork available for purchase.

  2. Stay at Eco Beach Resort

You can book a stay at our incredible eco-friendly beach resort! We offer an array of relaxing and invigorating activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding, guided hikes, swimming, incredible sunrises and sunsets over the Indian Ocean, spa treatments, and more.

We offer an extensive range of activities at our resort, so you may not even want to leave! If you do head out to explore all the things to do in Broome, we’re here to serve as your comfortable base to return to at the end of your adventures.

With our solar-powered operations, deep respect for Kimberley’s rich cultural history, and concern for the environment, we aim to set the new standard for “eco-friendly luxury”.

  3. Go Humpback Whale Watching

June marks the start of whale watching season in Broome and offers an amazing chance to catch a glimpse of humpback whales as they migrate to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

  4. Book a Fishing Charter

If you’re looking to get out on the open water, we suggest you book a fishing charter. Along with the chance to appreciate the picturesque coastline, fishing enthusiasts can get the chance to catch a variety of fish, including:

    • Tuna
    • Queenfish
    • Mackerel
    • Barramundi (seasonal)
    • Cod
    • Trevally
    • Mangrove Jack

    And more!

While there are various fishing charters in Broome to choose from, we also offer guided coastal fishing right here at Eco Beach Resort. Join one of our talented guides to explore the onshore reefs just north of our resort for the ultimate fishing experience.

  5. Take a Scenic Flight

Book one of many scenic flights available in Broome, or schedule a flight directly through Eco Beach Resort. We offer scenic helicopter flights in our comfortable Robinson 44 helicopter.

Prepare to be speechless as you view the historic landscape from the air and marvel at the seemingly endless stretches of white sandy beaches situated between the rich blue ocean and striking red cliffs.

  6. View Dinosaur Footprints

Have a dinosaur-loving kid (or adult!) in the family? Then make sure to add Gantheaume Point — the famous Dinosaur Coast — to your list! This astounding site features preserved dinosaur footprints set amongst the clear aqua ocean water and rich red rocks. During low tide, watch for fossilised dinosaur tracks to be revealed, forever etched into the reef rock.

Full of cultural and scientific significance and boasting more types of dinosaur tracks than any other location in the world, the Dinosaur Coast is a tourist and local favourite.

  7. Visit Chinatown

During Broome’s early days in the pearling industry, many Asians migrated to the region to work on the pearling boats. This contributed to the diverse society and rich culture and gave it the nickname Chinatown.

Located north of Town Beach, the historic Chinatown features cafes, restaurants, unique architecture, Aboriginal art galleries, and numerous pearling shops. Chinatown also features the world’s oldest cinema, Sun Pictures. Whether you make a day of it or simply stop by a few shops, Chinatown is a must visit.

  8. Visit the Broome Historical Museum

For a closer look at its fascinating history and a deeper appreciation of how unique the area is, check out the Broome Historical Museum. With educational exhibitions, artifacts, pearling memorabilia, and guided tours, this volunteer-run museum is a great way to explore the town’s past. The Broome Historical Museum and Chinatown go hand in hand, so if you’re a history buff, be sure to set aside time to experience both during your holiday.

  9. Discover Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park

If you are looking for family-friendly things to do in Broome, consider a fun, awe-inspiring trip to Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park. Watch in wonder as you view the sheer power and prehistoric appearance of some of Australia’s largest crocodiles during their daily feedings.

  10. Visit the Broome Courthouse Markets

Every Saturday (and some Sundays and Thursday evenings), be sure to check out Broome’s Courthouse Markets. Stroll along the streets lined with local vendors offering crafts, produce, arts, and culinary delights.

Sample delicious local food, purchase handmade crafts and homewares, and browse the unique shop offerings. With a welcoming vibe and fun atmosphere, the Broome Courthouse Markets are a perfect way to appreciate the quirky charm and rich character of our little seaside town!

  11. See the Staircase to the Moon

This phenomenon occurs from April to October when the moon is full and the tide is low. When the moonlight over Roebuck Bay reflects off the exposed mudflats, an illusion appears and creates an illuminated staircase stretching toward the moon. This rare, magical phenomenon offers an almost otherworldly scene that will make your Broome holiday unforgettable.
